Outline

The main alliances in Lebanon's 2005 parliament are as follows:

The anti-Syria Bristol Gathering alliance holds the majority of the votes with 72 members, headed by Saad al Hariri's. The alliance comprises The Future Movement Bloc (36), The Democratic Gathering bloc (15), The Qornet Shehwan alliance (14), the Tripoli Bloc (3), the Democratic Left Bloc (1), the Democratic Renewal Bloc (1), and independents Nicholas Fattoush and Robert Ghanem.

The Hezbollah, Amal Movement alliance comprises 33 members: the Liberation and Development bloc (15), the Loyalty to the Resistance bloc (14), the National Syrian Social Party (2), the Baath Party (1), and the Lebanese Phalanges (1).

The Change and Reform Alliance with 21 members, headed by MP General Michel Aoun. The alliance includes: The Free Patriotic Movement Bloc(14), The Popular Movement Bloc (5), and The Metn Bloc (2 members).

  • The Metn Bloc (2 members): Michel Murr and Hagop Pakradonian.
The Democratic Gathering Bloc, headed by Druze leader Walid Jumblat (15 members): Marwan Hamadeh, Nabil al-Bustani, Elie Aoun, Nimeh Toumeh, Alaa-el-Deen Tirro, Akram Shayyeb, Faisal al-Sayegh, Ayman Shoukair, Fouad al-Saad, Henry Helou, Abdullah Farhat, Ghazi al-Aridi, Wael Abu Faour, and Antouan Saad.

The Qornet Shehwan Alliance (14 members), comprising:
  • The Lebanese Forces Bloc (6 members): Strida Geagea, Elie Kairouz, Antoine Zahra, Farid Habib, George Adwan, and Edmond Naim.
  • The Pallange Party Reform Bloc (2 members): Pierre Gemayel and Antoine Ghanem.
  • Independent MP's (6 deputies): Gebran Tueni, Boutrus Harb, Nayla Mouawad, Samir Franjieh, Jawad Boulos, Solange Gemayel (representing an alliance between Gemayel's Pallange Party Reform Movement and the Lebanese Forces).
