 Place and Date of Birth: Born in Beirut on January 15,
1955. Son of Nouhad Boueiz (MP, deceased) and Jacqueline Debbs.
Sect: Maronite.
Marital status: Married to Zalfa Hrawi (daughter of former president
Elias Hrawi) with four children: Rhea, Nouhad, Tareq and Andrea.
Education: Bachelor of Laws (Saint
Joseph University, Beirut), and a degree in French law from Jean Moulin University, Lyon,
France.
Professional Career: Lawyer as of graduation in 1978. Special advisor to
former president Elias Hrawi. Special envoy to France, Syria and the Vatican (1989-1990).
Political Career: Minister of Foreign Affair and Emigrants in Omar Karame
government ( December 24, 1990-May 10, 1992), Minister of Foreign Affair and
Emigrants in Rashid Solh government (May 16, 1992-October 30, 1992), Minister of Foreign
Affair and Emigrants in Rafic Hariri first government (October 31, 1992 to May 25,
1995), Minister of Foreign Affair and Emigrants in Rafic Hariri second government (May 25,
1995-November 6, 1996), and Minister of Foreign Affair and Emigrants in Rafic Hariri third
government (November 7, 1996-December 3, 1998). Minister
of Environment in Rafic Hariri’s fifth government (April 17, 2003-) . Member of
Parliament: appointed in June 7, 1991, elected in 1992, reelected in 1996 and 2000.
Current Political Status:
Minister of Environment, Parliament Member representing
the Kesrouan, Mount Lebanon, Constituency.
Aspirations: Boueiz is a presidential candidate who was the fith to
annouce his candidacy after MPs Nayla Moawad, Boutros Harb, Robert Ghanem and Mikahel
