Place and Date of Birth: Born in Beirut on April 10, 1950.
Son of Khalil Mchantaf and Mari Abu Kenaan.
Sect: Maronite.
Education: Law Degree in 1970 from the
Lebanese University. Higher studies in law, Criminology, Political Science and History
from the Lebanese University.
Professional Background: Lawyer and writer. Has his own law firm. Joined
the Bar Association in 1970.
Political Career: Formed the Lebanese Movemnet Party in 1975. Candidate
for Lebanon's Presidency. Candidate for the Chouf parliamentary seat. Issued the 'Voice of
the Cedars' weekly and the Lebanese Movemnt Radio in 1975. Elected Secretary General for
the Chouf Cultural Council in 1974. One of the founders of the International
Muslim-Christian Cooperation Council (1982). Founder of the Democratic Parties and Active
Forces Front (1978). Member of the Maronite League. One of the founders of the Unified
Front for Lebanese Diplaced.
Publications: Writer with thousands of published articles in the
political, economic, legal and literary fields.
Current Political Status:
President of the Lebanese Movement Party.
