North Metn MP, Democratic Renewal Movement President Nassib Lahoud

Place and Date of Birth: Born in Baabdat, North Metn, on November 23, 1944. Son of former deputy and minister Salim Lahoud and Nadia Yared. Cousin of President Emile Lahoud.
Sect: Maronite.
Marital status: Married to Abla Fustok with two children, Salim (born in 1983) and Joumana (born in 1985). His wife, Abla Fustoq, a Lebanese born in Beirut in 1946, is a holder of a university degree in social Science.
Education: Degree in Electrical Engineering from Lougborough University of Technology (UK). Earlier studies at College Notre Dame - Jamhour.
Business Career: Founder and partner of  Lahoud Engineering Co. Ltd. A group of industrial companies established in 1973, Lahoud Engineering soon became one of the most prominent industrial construction companies in the Middle East. Collaborating with many leading international companies, Lahoud Engineering built a large number of refineries, power plants, water desalination plants, cement factories and other projects in the Arab world. The Company has its headquarters in Beirut, and a number of branches of branches in the Arab world.
Political Background: Lebanese Ambassador to the United States of America 1990-1991. Appointed deputy in June 1,1991. Elected North Metn MP in 1992, reelected in 1996 and 2000. Founding member and President of the Democratic Renewal Movement (formed in 2001). Member of the Qornet Shehwan Gathering, which, along with many personalities, includes MPs Butros Harb, Nayla Moawad, Nassib Lahoud, Fares Souaid, Pierre Gemayel, Antoine Ghanem, Mansour Ghanem el Bone and Salah Honein.
Current Political Status: North Metn MP.
Political Stand: A presidential aspirant, Nassib Lahoud takes a moderate stance with regard to the Syrian political and military presence in Lebanon, and considers the Taif agreement a useful starting point for correcting the Lebanese-Syrian relations for the mutual benefit of both countries.
