Place and Date of Birth: Born in Tripoli, Lebanon, on April 1, 1954. Resides in Mina, Tripoli.
Sect: Sunnite.
Marital status: Married to lawyer Salima Adib, daughter of late Judge Abdul Razzak Adib, with four children: Ahamad, Karim, Amal and Hana.
Education: Joined the Military Academy in 1973 and graduated as first lieutenant in 1976. Promoted successively to higher ranks. Promoted to major general on April 28, 2005. His education includes Lebanese Baccalaureate II (mathematics) (1772/1973); Degree in Social Science, Crime Section, from the Lebanese University; Certificate of Merit in the Social Science of Crime form the Lebanese University. Pursued several courses abroad, including a course with the Canadian Police (R.C.M.P) in Ottawa, Preliminary Staff Course (D.E.S.G) with the French Gendarmerie at Maison Alforts (1986), a course in Saudi Arabia in the field of Personnel Protection under the supervision of French trainers (1987), a course in Public Relations and Information in Jordan in 1983.
Languages: Arabic, French and English. 
Military Career: Assumed several posts including Head of Information (four years), Chief of Criminal Investigation (four years), Head of Internal State Security (two years), Director of State Security in North Lebanon (two years), Commander of the Prime Ministerial Guards (three years), Chief of Public Relations (seven Years), Drug Eradication Bureau (two Years), Commander of the noncommissioned Officers (Rutaba') School at the Internal Security Academy (three years).
Medals: Lebanese Order of Merit, Order of War, Order of the Dawn of the South (Fajr Al Janoub), National Unity Order, National Order of Cedar, Medal of Merit. Earned 21 written commendations from the the Minister of Interior and Municipalities, the Army Commander, the General of Internal Security Forces, and the Director General of State Security.
Current Status: Director General of Internal Security Forces (ISF). Replaced former ISF director General Ali Hajj following a decision by the government adopted in its session of Thursday, April 28, 2005.
