Fashion Designer Elie Saab
 Elie Saab was born on July 4, 1964 in
Lebanon.
As a child and a teenager later on, Elie Saab had a
curiosity for the World of Art. His interest elaborated, led him into the world of
fashion. He begins designing evening gowns and wedding dresses and opened his first
atelier in Beirut, in 1982, under his own name.
During the same year, Elie Saab presents his first
collection at the Casino Du Liban. The event found a huge success and had massive media
coverage. The Lebanese press referred to him as the "precocious genius". Deeply
attached to his native culture but constantly interested in the European fashion, his
style was a mixture between the Oriental and the Western culture.
The eighties marked the career of Elie Saab. His reputation
got all around the Middle East region attracting Princesses to his atelier in Beirut.
In the beginning of the Nineties, Elie Saab moves to bigger
atelier in the capital. The reputation of his work is spread overseas. Private fashion
shows were organized abroad such as in Paris, Switzerland etc.
In 1997, Elie Saab, as the first foreign designer,
presented his first Spring/Summer Haute Couture Collection during the Roma "Alta
Moda" Week. Since then, his fashion shows are presented in Rome.
One of the particular aspects in the designer's fashion
shows, is the presence of no less than ten wedding dresses in his collections: Elie Saab's
favorite creations.
In 1998, the prêt-à-porter line, manufactured exclusively
in Italy, was born with the first 98 / 99 autumn / fall collection that was presented in
Milan. It found a huge success and orders flew in from all over the world.
In the summer of 98, Elie Saab exhibited a collection of
evening gowns at the Plaza of the Monte Carlo Casino, which was attended by Princess
Stephanie of Monaco and other celebrities.
Elie Saab is one of the international designers dressing
Hollywood movie stars and Award winning ceremonies.
Saab shot to worldwide fame in 2002 when US actress Halle Berry received her Best
Actress Oscar wearing one of his gowns - a burgundy ball skirt with a sheer embroidered
bodice.

New Headquarters
Elie Saab is Moving his headquarters to the Beirut central district (BCD), into
his own multi-leveled building, which should be completed in 18 months from Oct 2003.
