Districts and seats
The year 2000 electoral law no. 171, dated
June 6, 2000, which was applied to the year 2000 parliamentary elections, was again
applied to the year 2005 parliamnentay election, which started on May 29, 2005, but with
one variation: In 2000, South Lebanon was one governorate, while in 2005 it was
again divided into two governorates as stipulated by the 2005 electoral law, which at
the time was amended to make south Lebanon one Governorate for one and last time in the
aftermath of the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Lebanon in May 2000.
In total, the number of electoral districts is now 6, the number of constituencies is 14
and the total number of deputies is 128, divided equally between Christians and Moslems in
accordance with the Taef Accord, as follows:
Beirut Governorate: 19 Deputies
- First Constituency: Achrafieh, Mazraa and Saifi. 6
Deputies: Maronites(1), Roman Catholic(1), Greek Orthodox (1), Evangelists (1),
Sunnis (2).
- Second Constituency: Mussaitbeh, Bashoura and Rmeil. 6
Deputies: Armenian Orthodox (1), Greek Orthodox (1), Minorities (1), Sunni (2),
Shiites (1).
- Third Constituency: Ain Mreissi, Ras Beirut, Zukak Blat,
Medawar, Beirut Port and Mina El-Hosn. 7 Deputies: Greek Orthodox (2),
Armenian Catholics (1), Sunnis (2), Shiites (1), Druze (1).
Mount Lebanon Governorate: 35

- First Constituency: Jbeil and Kesrouan. 8 Deputies:
Maronites (7), Shiites (1).
- Second Constituency: Metn. 8 Deputies:
Maronites (4), Orthodox Armenians (1), Greek Orthodox (2), Greek Catholics (1).
- Third Constituency: Baabda and Aley. 11 Deputies:
