Administration, Lebanese University. Political Background: Joined Amal
Movement in 1981, and became member of its Politburo in 1982. Head of the Council of the
South (1985-1990). Appointed MP in June 7, 1991. Elected MP in 1992. Reelected in 1996 and
2000. Minister of Housing and Cooperatives in Omar Karame's cabinet ( December 24, 1990 -
May 10, 1992\0. Minister of Energy and Water in Rashid Solh's cabinet (May 16, 1992 -
October 30, 1992). Minister of Energy and Water in Hariris fourth cabinet (October
26, 2000 - April 15, 2003). Member of the Resistance and Development Bloc of House Speaker
Nabih Berri.
