Education: BS Agriculture from the
American University of Beirut (AUB) in 1975. Primary education in New Zealand; secondary
education in Charly Saad School in Choeifat.
Professional Background: Managing own property in Biqaa region.
Political Career: Minister of Industry in Hariri's fifth cabinet (April
17, 2003- October 26, 2004). Minister of Agriculture in Omar Karami's cabinet
(October 26, 2004 - ). Elected MP in 1992, reelected in 1996 and 2000. His first political
victory was made when his electoral list won against the list backed by former president
Elias el Hrawi during the 1998 municipal elections. Member of the Popular Bloct - Zahleh,
whcih includes him and Zahleh MP Nicholas Fattoush. Head of the Lebanese delegation to
Kuwait (1993), Denmark (1994), and UK (1995). Member of several non-profitable
organizations.
