Marital status: Married with
five children, Jassem, Hussein, Nadine, Zeinab and Dana.
Education:
Diploma in Engineering (Mines and Geology) from Zaghreb University, Yugoslavia, in 1963. Higher education in Petroleum and Geology in Romania.
Professional Background: Worked as engineer at the Litani office ( 1994-); Lebanese University professor  (1967 – 1969).
Political Career: Member of the regional leadership of the Ba’th party; party member since 1953. Head of the regional leadership of the Ba’th party since 1966. Elected deputy in 1996, reelected in 2000. Minister of State in Hariri's fifth cabinet (April 17, 2003 - October 26, 2004). Minister of Labor in Omar Karami's cabinet (October 26, 2004 - ). Member of the Ba’th parliamentary Bloc, which includes Assem Qanso, Abdel-Rahman Abdel-Rahman and Qassem Hashem. 

Current Political Status: Minister of Labor, Biqaa MP.
