Marital Status: Married; three children.
Educational background: Completed his studies at the American University
of Beirut in 1975. Earned a B.A degree in Economics from Wayne State University, Detroit,
Michigan, in 1976. Earned a Masters in Economics from the same university in 1977,
and a PH.D in 1983. Worked at the American University of Beirut, Department of Economics,
in the capacity of Lecturer (2000-2001), and as Assistant Professor (1990--2000). He also
worked as lecturer in a number of American Universities from 1984 and to 1990.
Professional Background: Appointed Secretary General for Privatization at
the Presidency of the Council of Ministers (2001). Worked as advisor to Lebanon's late
prime Minister Rafic Hariri (2000). Worked as advisor to several ministers as of 1980.
Board member of the Mediterranean Company for Airport Services (1998-2001). Member of the
Committees for Reformulating Lebanon's Tax Law and the General Accounting Law at the
Accounting Council of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers (1993 to 1996).
Political Background: Elected in 2005 deputy for Beirut Three
Constituency (Ras Beirut, Dar Mreisseh, Port, Mina Hosn, Zoqaq Blat, Medawar) on "Martyr Prime Minister Rafic
Hariri's Beirut Decision List". Member of Saad Hariri's 'Future Movement
Parliamentary bloc'.
