Educational background: Mr. Safadi graduated from Broumana High School (a Quaker missionary school) in 1962, acquired “A” level G.C.E.S. in London and later joined the American University of Beirut where he achieved a Bachelor degree in Business Administration in February 1968
Business Background: Worked in his father’s and uncles’ family business Safadi and Bros, in Tripoli. Established personal business In Beirut in 1969. Extended his business investments to Saudi Arabia and Europe and invested in projects in the banking, tourism, computer, aviation and housing projects abroad. Established in the 1990’s the Safadi Group Holding SAL in Lebanon, which deals in property development, banking, aviation, information technology, tourism (Hotels) and industry.
Political and public background: Elected Triploi MP in 2000. Relected in 2005 in alliance with Saad Hariri's "Reconciliation and Reform List". Member of the Tripoli bloc, which includes MPs Maurice Fadel and Mohammad Kabbara. Appointed Minister of Public Works and Transport in Fouad Siniora's cabinet (July 19, 2005 - ). Head of the Lebanese – German Parliamentary Friendship Committee. Member of the Lebanese – Kuwaiti Parliamentary Friendship Committee. President of the Lebanese Section for the Arab Common Market. He also holds the following memberships: Member of John F. Kennedy School of Government Dean’s Council (Harvard University). Member of the American Community School at Beirut (ACS) Board of trustees. Member of the Entrepreneurial Training Foundation’s Board of Trustees.
Philanthropic activities: Founder and Chairman of the Safadi Foundation, which is a non-governmental, non-profit organization that works for human development in Lebanon, and in North Lebanon in particular. It was founded by MP  Safadi in 1999.
