 Place and Date of Birth: Born on January 30, 1962 in Bteghrine, Lebanon. Son of Michel Murr (Metn MP, Deputy Speaker) and Silvie Abou Jawdeh.
Brother of Mirna and Lina.
Sect: Greek Orthodox.
Marital status: Married to Carine
Emile Lahoud, Daughter of President Emile Lahoud, with 3 children, Michel (1994),
Maria (1997) and Emile (2000).
Education: Graduated
from the Liman Institute, Switzerland, with a Higher Degree in Law in 1982, and is a
member of the Beirut Bar Association.
Professional Career: Lawyer with activities covering Beirut, Paris and
Geneva; Chairs more than 20 Corporations in Lebanon and abroad dealing in finance,
real estate, engineering, freigh and media, tourism, business and construction works.
Publisher of the Jamhouriyeh (The Republic) newspaper, which came to light on September
22, 1985, and stopped on January 15, 1986. A licenced pilot in both Jet and helicopter
command.
Political Career: . Appointed Minister of the Interior and Municipal
Affairs in Hariri's fourth cabinet (October 26, 2000 - April 15, 2003) and in Hariri's
fifth cabinet (April 17 2003 - October 26, 2004). Appointed
Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense in Najib Mikati's cabinet (April 19, 2005 -
July 19, 2005).Appointed Deputy Prime Minister,
Minister of Defense in Fouad Siniora'ss cabinet (April 19, 2005 -).
Current Political Status: Deputy Prime Minsiter, Minister of Defense.
