Place and Date of Birth: Born in Khiyam, Marjeyoun on March 27, 1942; Son of Dr. Shukrallah Karam (M.D.) and Wadad Obeid.

Marital status: Married to Anne Marie Agajanian (Doctor in Anesthesia and lecturer at AUB) with three chidden, Amer, Dima and Shukrallah.
