Born in Beirut on February 17, 1954. Son of Lutfic Hogasapian and Elize Mondjian.
Sect: Armenian Orthodox
Marital Status: Married to Nadia Nicholas Jelwan, with one daughter.
Educational Background: Studied at Champville School in Metn (1960-1973)
where he finished his secondary education and obtained the second Baccalaureate
degree. Joined the Lebanese Army where he attended the Military School in Fayadia
(1974-1977). Obtained a B.A. in Social Sciences from the Lebanese University in 1979.
Attended security and military training courses in Jordan, France Germany and USA.
Followed a course in Administration and Budgetary science at the United States in 1995.
Professional background: Promoted during his military service to the rank
of colonel in 1999. Placed in charge of the president's security team and
presidential security from 1990 to1999. Appointed assistant to the commander of the
presidential guard following the election of President Emile Lahoud in 1998. Resigned on
February 3, 2000 to run for the 2000 parliamentary election.
Political Background: Elected in 2000 as Armenian Orthodox Deputy of
Beirut Third District, reelected in 2005. Member of Saad Hariri's Future Movement Bloc.
