Education: Pursued his studies in
Lebanon and England. BA in Political Science and Economy from George Washington University
(United States), Masters from the American University of Beirut.
Political Career: Politician since 1988.
Appointed deputy on June 7, 1991, elected in 1992, re-elected in 1996 and 2000 for the
Druze seat at Baabda-Aley constituency. Minister of Tourism in Omar Karami government (24
December 1990 - May 6, 1992), Minister of Emigrants during the third Hariri government
(November 7,1996 - December 4, 1998). Appointed Minister of State in Hariri's fourth
government (October 26, 2000 to April 15, 2003). Appointed Minister of State in Hariri's
fifth government (April 17, 2003 -October 26, 2004). Appointed Minister of the Displaced
in Omar Karami's government (October 26 - ). Formed the Lebanese Democratic Party on July
1, 2001.
