Lebanese journalists protest Bush's 'Aljazeera bomb plan'

BEIRUT, Lebanon - Lebanese journalists have staged a sit-in to protest reports that US President George W. Bush wanted to attack Arab news channel Aljazeera's Doha headquarters.

Dozens of Lebanese journalists, including Aljazeera employees, organised the sit-in in front of the channel's bureau in Beirut Thursday.

Aljazeera Beirut bureau chief Ghassan Bin Jeddo demanded an "inquiry into this matter" and bombings in Kabul and Baghdad.

Tarek Ayoub, an Aljazeera journalist, was killed by a missile that hit the channel's office in Baghdad during a US attack in 2003.

The Aljazeera bureau in the Afghan capital was also hit by a US bomb, with the Pentagon saying it thought the building was an Al Qaeda base. (DPA)
