Islamic Group names candidates for Lebanon's parliamentary elections

BEIRUT - Lebanon Islamic Group (Al-Jamaa al-Islamiya) released Monday the  names of its candidates for Lebanon's upcoming parliamentary elections.

In a press conference held in Beirut, the Group's deputy secretary general  Ibrahim al-Masri said his group aims at mobilizing the nation to fight against corruption internally and against the Zionist enemy externally using all forms of resistance".

Masri said his group has an “understanding” with Future bloc leader MP Saad Hariri on an alliance.

The following is the list of names the Islamic Group nominated for the upcoming 2009 parliamentary elections:

1 - Beirut (third district): Imad Hout

2 - Tripoli: Rami Dergham

3 – Dunniyeh-Minyeh: Asaad Harmoush

4 - Akkar: Mohamed Hochar

5 - Saida: Ali al-Sheikh Ammar

6 - Western Beqaa-Rashiya: Sami al-Khatib.
