| Hezbollah, PSP form Mount
Lebanon security committee BEIRUT, Lebanon
-- The Progressive Socialist Party (PSP) and Hezbollah have formed a joint security
committee tasked with dealing with any problem that may occur between the two parties at
Mount Lebanon, after the bloody clashes that broke out between the majority and the
opposition there in May.
PSP leader MP Walid Jumblatt, in a statement carried by local media on Friday, announced
the formation of this joint committee, which he said was "a security committee and
not a political one." The committee with be co-headed by Hezbollah's Security Officer
Wafeeq Safa and PSP's MP Akram Shaheeb.
Moreover, Jumblatt said he would be talking a tour of Mount Lebanon with Parliament
Speaker and Amal Movement leader Nabih Berri, aimed at reassuring the people of the
