| Dick Cheney is not one of
them Jihad el-Khazen, Al-Hayat The White House announced that Vice President Dick Cheney will kick off a Middle East tour next Sunday to offer American reassurances on the commitment to the peace process between the Palestinians and Israel. If I were to meet Cheney by chance, I would not shake hands with him because this man is the first person to be blamed - even before and after George Bush - for the war that claimed a million Iraqis, i.e. a million Arabs and Muslims, while the fight is still going on. Dick Cheney, along with the then Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, led the war cabal from the vice president's office, where two cabals met. One wants the American empire to dominate the world, whereas the other, made up of radical neo-cons, wants to destroy the countries of the region in order to protect Israel's alleged security. What has been conclusively and definitively corroborated since the ominous terror act of September 11, 2001 is that the war cabal has been planning and instigating the invasion prior to these terrorist attacks. In fact, the Cheney Task Force spoke of seizing Iraq's oil a few months prior to these terrorist attacks, which, when perpetrated, gave the Task Force the go-ahead to proceed with its plans. At the same time, the terrorist Al-Qaeda had been the ally of radical Americans in destructive wars fought from Afghanistan to Iraq as well as the Palestinian territories, and probably Iran and other countries tomorrow. On his visit to the Middle East, Cheney will not seek peace, as his president has claimed. He will rather ask for putting a brake on the mounting oil prices, with oil being his first and last love. In the buildup to the invasion of Iraq, which was carried out on the grounds of trumped-up reasons, Cheney was the direct or the behind-the-scenes instigator eyeing both the empire and oil. Officials in his office, such as Lewis Libby and David Wurmser, were the Israeli spearheads in the face of Arabs and Muslims. The Senate Intelligence Committee is preparing to release its report on the war on Iraq following a 4-year investigation into the administration's allegations on Iraq's weapons of mass destruction and ties to Al-Qaeda, allegations that were later proven wrong, rather deliberately trumped up and propagandized by the administration even though they were at odds with other intelligence. I personally do not expect the report to clearly condemn the administration. Though Sen. John Rockefeller, the Democratic Chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, sought the truth, some Democrats on the committee and some party members were enthusiastic about the war and helped circulate the concocted lies. Hillary Clinton herself said in October 2002 that if left unchecked, Saddam Hussein would increase his capacity to develop nuclear and biological weapons. As we all know, Clinton voted that year for the Congress resolution authorizing the administration to engage in war but she has not apologized yet for that move. Coveting the Arab oil and well-known for his background in US oil companies, Dick Cheney was behind everybody. In August 2002, he asserted that Saddam Hussein resumed his efforts to acquire nuclear weapons although his claims were challenged by the State Department's intelligence bureau. Eventually, the United States fought Taliban in Afghanistan rallying behind the international community. Yet, it stopped short of completing this war and diverted its attention to Iraq and its oil. Along with the Iraqis and the peoples of the world, the United States paid a heavy price. Hundreds of thousands of people, including 4,000 American young men, were killed in a war that cost three trillion dollars. In addition, the US economy collapsed with repercussions felt worldwide. Crazy terror exploded and intensified as a result of the war targeting it. Add to this the prisons of Guantánamo, Abu Ghraib, and Pagram, all of which are anathema to American values. Prevalent in the Third World, the means of torture adopted in these prisons is not expected to be used by the country championing freedom. Other consequences include wiretapping, spying on citizens' bank accounts, and a setback in the course of democracy in the Middle East. The report of the Senate Intelligence Committee, as I have read, has been delayed owing to a disagreement among its members about details. The warmongers are asking for self-protection, and the investigation is not over yet in the Pentagon's Office of Special Plans led by Douglas Feith under the supervision of Paul Wolfowitz. In justification of the war, the office provided alternative intelligence through Iraqi collaborators, mere liars and traitors who ignored everything about Iraq. I do not personally need reports from any sources. There is sufficient information on the American empire cabal and on the Israel cabal. The administration members who have dealt with the Middle East files were all radical enemies of the Arabs and Muslims with a track record of decades spent on working against the interests of America itself and antagonizing Arabs and Muslims. The US administration undoubtedly includes a large number
of honest officials who are striving to serve the interest of their country. But Dick
Cheney is not one of them. I hold him in particular liable for the murder and destruction
in our nations. |
