| Hamas: Lebanon War Report
Shows Israeli Weakness GAZA CITY--A report labeling Israel's 2006 war in Lebanon a failure has exposed the weakness of the Jewish state and should spur Palestinians to redouble their struggle, Hamas said Thursday. The Winograd commission report "reveals the weakness and the fragility of the Zionist entity and its political-military establishment," said Fawzi Barhum, spokesman for Islamist movement. "This report should embolden us to pursue our right of resistance in all its form in the war against our people and our land by the Israeli occupier," he said in a statement. Barhum also said the Palestinian Authority of president Mahmoud Abbas should " review its policy of negotiation and coordination with this fragile entity and free up the Palestinian resistance to act without being strangled by an iron fist." Hamas, which seized control of the Gaza Strip in June after violently routing forces loyal to Abbas, doesn't recognize Israel nor agree with his policy of seeking peace with Israel. -AFP |
