Report: Hezbollah pulled off largest military training to date

Hezbollah has over the last three days carried out its largest military maneuver in the history of the organization, the Lebanese newspaper Al-Akhbar reported on Monday.

According to the report, thousands of fighters from the Islamic group took part in a training exercise on Lebanon's border with Israel, set to prove that the scope of Hezbollah's missiles could cover the entire territory of Israel.

The exercise was observed by Israel Defense Forces troops as well as international forces stationed in the region, despite Hezbollah's intention to keep it secret.

Al-Akhbar said that the goal of the exercise was to strengthen the image of Hezbollah's intelligence in southern Lebanon, to learn about renewed deployment of IDF troops along the border and to test new military tactics in the area.

Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah personally supervised the exercise, according to the report.

"Both our enemies and our allies know that the resistance forces are ready to contend with every attack by the Israeli enemy," Nasrallah was quoted as saying.

Major General Moshe Kaplinsky, who served as deputy IDF chief of staff during the Second Lebanon War, declared a few weeks ago that Israel would know how to deal with Hezbollah if fighting were to flare again.

"In the next round it will take us less time, we'll send more ground forces into Lebanon, we'll take control for a few weeks, if necessary, months, in order to dismantle Hezbollah."
