Doha Bank gets partner in Beirut

DOHA Bank has signed an agreement with Bank of Beirut (BOB) for online electronic funds transfer.
The two banks have also agreed to generate local business for each other, aimed at non-resident Lebanese living in Qatar.

The agreement was signed for Doha Bank by deputy CEO R Seetharaman and Bank of Beirut’s Najib Semaan, assistant general manager (Treasury, Capital Markets, Foreign Exchange and International Division).

Seetharaman said he is hopeful that the arrangement with BOB would benefit both banks as well as Lebanese expatriates in Qatar.

There is a sizeable number of expatriates from GCC and other Arab countries, including Lebanon, coming to Qatar to work and do business, he said.

Local banking industry needs a convenient home country banking arrangement in Qatar for these expatriates for their money transfers and banking operations besides service investment needs.
“With our presence in Dubai, this arrangement is going to benefit Lebanese in the UAE as well,” Seetharaman added.

Semaan said his bank is delighted with the tie-up with Doha Bank. “I am certain the arrangement with Doha Bank will benefit the Lebanese expatriates in Qatar in meeting their home country banking needs and quick remittances from Qatar. The small initiative will grow further and provide a wide range of services to Lebanese expatriates, including corporates,” he said.
