Lebanese army detains three suspects, confiscate weapons

BEIRUT, Lebanon -- Lebanese intelligence authorities detained three suspects and confiscated a large amount of weapons, explosives and rockets, said the Lebanese Army on Saturday.

An army statement said a Lebanse army patrol from the inelligence bureau staged house raids in a number of villages in southern Lebanon and found a Katyusha rocket , a Strella surface-to-air missile, explosives and detonators, hand grenades, B-7 rocket-propelled grenades, medium and light weapons, as well as explosive canisters filled with nails, upon which two suspects were detained.

The third person was detained in relation to an explosive device found on February 27.

Lebanese forces had detained two days ago in Nabatiya, South Lebanon, two Palestinians for possession of rockets.

The statement did not say where exactly the raids took place. -Agencies
