Lebanese army, UNIFIL finish Blue Line verification

BEIRUT, Lebanon - The Lebanese army and the enhanced United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) finished Friday the verification process of border marks of the Blue Line between Lebanon and Israel.

Topographic committees of the UNIFIL and the Lebanese military verified 14 border marks that were posted by the UNIFIL along the Blue Line between Marwahin, Tyre to Aitaron, Bent Jbeil after the recent Israeli aggression on Lebanon, a Lebanese security source told KUNA.

The three-phase operation aims to verify the 14 marks, verify all border marks from Naqoura to Shebaa gate and demarcate the corrected Blue Line, he added.

The Blue Line between Lebanon and Israel was drawn by the United Nations in June, 2000, two months after the 18-year Israeli military occupation of south Lebanon.
