kills Hezbollah member in Lebanon BEIRUT, Lebanon - An unexploded Israeli cluster bomb killed Wednesday a member of the Hezbollah militant movement and wounded two others in southern Lebanon, Lebanese police said. The bomb went off in a field north of the Litani River, outside the zone where United Nations Interim Force in southern Lebanon (UNIFIL) is deployed. The incident brought to 25 the number of people killed by cluster bombs since the August 14 ceasefire which ended 33 days of war between Israel and Hezbollah. Some 137 people have been wounded in the same period, according to police. According to a Lebanese army source, there over 800,000 bomblets scattered across southern Lebanon since Israel launched its offensive on July 12 following Hezbollah's capture of two Israeli soldiers. -DPA |
