Lebanon seeks international investigation into Qana bombing

UNITED NATIONS - Lebanon on Monday demanded an international investigation into Israel's bombing of the town of Qana which left dozens dead, in a speech to a special UN Security Council meeting on the Lebanon crisis.

Acting foreign minister Tarek Mitri said he had gone to the UN headquarters to seek an international investigation "with regard to the crime of Qana".

The minister told the council that 62 people had died in Sunday's bombing, including 35 children. Other officials had previously confirmed 52 deaths.He said it had been "a blatant violation of international law".
