| Body of French hostage in
Beirut to be repatriated BEIRUT, Lebanon - The body of a Frenchman, Michel Seurat, who was kidnapped more than 20 years ago in south Beirut will be returned to Paris on Tuesday. His body was found last October in the Lebanese capital, identified by DNA analysis, and will now be brought back to France on Tuesday, the French foreign ministry said Monday. Seurat, a researcher kidnapped on May 22, 1985, was announced dead a year later in a statement from the militant group Islamic Jihad, which said the group had executed him. Seurat was one of thousands of foreigners and Lebanese who went missing during Lebanon's 1975-1990 civil war. |
