| IDF: Lebanesee army beefs
up presence in south Lebanon Ma'ariv -- IDF
Northern Command officers said that they have noticed increased activity by the Lebanese
army in the area adjacent to the Israeli-Lebanese border.
The officers said: "it is hard to know whether the intensified involvement of the
Lebanese army in the south stems from coordination with Hizbullah or is the result of a
new policy of the Lebanese government."
One senior Northern Command officer said: "We still haven't seen a clear trend of
involvement by the Lebanese army in the areas under Hizbullah's control. It is true that
there is a Lebanese army presence in the south, but it is my impression that this can be
seen mainly in cooperation with UNIFIL." |
