| Israeli planes overfly
Lebanon: army BEIRUT, Lebanon - Israeli warplanes violated Lebanon's airspace on Monday, stirring anti-aircraft gunners into action as they overflew most of the country, the military said. Four fighter-bombers flew over the north from the coastal town of Shekka to the Bsharre mountains before heading to southern Lebanon. A drone overflew the Damour region in the south, the army said, followed by low-altitude passes by four other warplanes. Israel's air force also carried out a mock raid near the port city of Sidon, breaking the sound barrier. Israeli planes violate Lebanese airspace on an almost daily basis despite UN calls for the Jewish state to respect Lebanon's sovereignty. The Lebanese army generally uses its anti-aircraft guns in case of low overflights. |
