Aoun blasts Harirists, Jumblat, Berri, Hizbullah as 'subversive tsunami'

Gen. Aoun has attacked slain ex-Premier Hariri's political heirs and Druze opposition leader Walid Jumblat for striking an alleged deal with Hizbullah and Speaker Berri to rule Lebanon, calling them a 'subversive Tsunami.' "I have been accused of being a 'returning Tsunami,' but I say we are the positive Tsunami," Aoun said from his house in Rabieh in an interview aired by the LBCI Saturday night, grapping press headlines on Sunday.

"But these election lists formed nowadays are a 'subversive Tsunami' against the formulas that should have been established after the ouster of the Syrians," Aoun said. "They have reneged on all pledges they made and they are now gunning for the control of the country."

"Those who accomplished the 2000 electoral law are going to return to the new parliament---Hariri's Tayyar Al Mustaqbal, Berri's Amal Movement, Hizbullah and Walid Jumblat. This law ensures their control over parliament," Gen. Aoun said.

He said the United States and France should not be apprehensive about a two or three-week delay of the elections to promulgate a fair electoral law. The general also unleashed a stinging attack against Jumblat, calling him a 'provocateur responsible for all what's happening.'

Aoun said Hariri's Tayyar Al Mustaqbal has aligned itself with Jumblat to "make true his dream of federalism." The general charged that he was betrayed by the opposition three times, 1st when it tried to prevent his return from exile, 2nd when Mikati's government was formed and 3rd when the electoral law of 2000 was imposed.
