Hoax bomb threat at Beirut airport

An anonymous caller Saturday phoned an apparently fake bomb threat into officials at Lebanon's Beirut International Airport.

A man telephoned the airport security office warning that there was a truck laden with explosives in one of the airport's shipment warehouses, an airport official said.

The official also added that all staff, workers and drivers were evacuated before bomb experts and police dogs thoroughly searched the premises for a bomb, but nothing was found.

The source said an immediate investigation was launched into the identity of the caller.

A series of bomb blasts have rocked several parts of Beirut since the assassination of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri in a massive explosion Feb. 14. (UPI)
