Telecommunications Minister Jean-Louis Qordahi announced the "Jbeil slate" for municipal elections from his home in Jbeil on Sunday.

In a news conference, Qordahi said that citizens' intensive participation in the municipal elections on May 2 will guarantee the election of a harmonious team of experts known for their honesty and integrity. "Let us give a chance to our youth and allow competent candidates to assume their responsibilities and serve their country," Qordahi said.

The minister stressed that he had been the target of media campaigns for more than two years now, adding that he refused that Jbeil be the subject of compromises and political bickering.

"Writing the future depends on your will, awareness, work and choice," Qordahi said.

The minister stressed that attachment to Jbeil, the people, the land, heritage and history were not superficial issues, but issues deeply rooted in the hearts of citizens.

"Our slate is the result of the choice of this city, including its people, affiliations, ideas, loyalties and choices," he added.

Qordahi said that the "Jbeil slate" consisted of a group of people who had pledged to serve their community and who hold Jbeil's dreams, ambition and have faith in development and renovation.

"The 'Jbeil slate' is not just a mere political or friendship combination, but represents a team united by goals, visions and the will to serve the city and its residents," Qordahi said.
