Four days after a Sidon woman won $3.3 million in the National Lottery, Joseph Fouad Massoud became the second, although less lucky winner, who will now think of how to spend his LL1.6 billion.
As Massoud, 32, is a bachelor, he is lucky to have the opportunity to spend his new fortune on himself.
Massoud, a resident in Fanar, told The Daily Star on Wednesday that he was not watching the National Lottery show when he heard about the good news. It was not until late Thursday when he was reading the newspaper that he learned that he had become Lebanon’s second recent millionaire.
Massoud said he chose the “winning numbers randomly, without prior thought.
“I am not a regular lottery player,” he said, adding that whenever he is in front of a bookstore he buys a lottery ticket; otherwise, he said he can go months without playing.
Massoud, who has his own business, evaluated his social status as good.
And it seems that, unlike last week’s winner, Ghada Basma, of Sidon, the new millionaire does not have plans on how to spend his fortune.
Massoud saying that he “has no ideas for his future plans.”
“I still have a month and a half to think about how to spend the money before I receive the lottery prize,” he said.
On Thursday, Basma, a 39-year-old woman from Sidon, won $3.3 million, the highest jackpot in Lebanese history. She has three children, a girl and two boys. She said she and her husband planned to “provide our children with a good education” using the money. N. R.
