In a surprise move, the Fatah movement handed over to the
Lebanese Army Wednesday two foreigners it said were involved in suspicious
activities, including the use of false passports and planning acts of sabotage.
Palestinian sources said that they had been planted in the camp to carry out acts that
would heighten tensions and focus attention on the countrys refugee camps.
The suspects, Mustafa Khatib, a 31-year-old Palestinian-Jordanian, and Jim Kim Su, a North
Korean, were turned over at an army checkpoint outside the Ain al-Hilweh refugee camp in
Sidon by the Palestinian groups representatives.
The mens heads were covered with white hoods and they were taken away in an army
vehicle. Both men are currently being interrogated by army intelligence.
Khatib and Su, who joined Fatah one year ago, were arrested several weeks ago at the camp
after officials became suspicious of their work. Fatah discovered forged passports in
their possession as well as the sum of $3,000.
Palestinian sources said that Khatib and Su had confessed to being tasked with killing US
and British citizens in Sidon to create disorder in the camps and consequently embarrass
the Lebanese government concerning the Palestinian refugee issue.
The arrest of the two men was conducted in secret and was announced only after a series of
investigations had been completed by authorities.
However, the sources dismissed the idea that the two could have been responsible for a
spate of recent explosions in the camps. With agencies
