Cyberia joins rivals to create region’s top internet provider
Merger will provide ‘competitive edge’

Cyberia, Lebanon’s leading internet service provider (ISP), announced its merger with the four biggest ISPs and telecommunications companies in Saudi Arabia, to create one of the largest privately held ISPs in the Arab world, a press release announced Monday.
The four Saudi companies TRInet, OgerTel, Dallah Telecom and Nournet along with Cyberia will no longer be run under their own names as separate businesses.
The new company will operate under the commercial name of Cyberia, and its headquarters will be based in Saudi Arabia. A new board will be made up of members of each company united under a central CEO.
The new company has begun operating in Saudi Arabia, Jordan and the United Arab Emirates, but as yet there will be no immediate impact on Cyberia’s Lebanese subscribers due to the current impasse in the telecommunications sector.
The new company aims to offer a higher quality service at a better price.
Vice-chairman Ali Kolaghassi said: “Cyberia was the obvious regional partner both in terms of branding and as an example of a company that has, like its Saudi partners, maintained its competitive edge in terms of technology and services as well as successfully adapting to the various cultures, languages and market conditions.”
Two Lebanese ISP providers, Data Management and Inconet, merged into one firm called Inconet Data Management last year to create one of Lebanon’s biggest ISPs.
